Rareconnect is a safe and easy to use platform where rare disease patients, their families and patient organisations can develop online communities and engage in conversations around the world to break out of isolation and feel surrounded.
The platform was created on 1 January 2009 in Barcelona. The RareConnect team is composed of employees from non-profit organisations such as EURORDIS Rare Diseases Europe and Care4Rare Canada.
RareConnect helps rare disease patients and their families to connect and share their experiences and knowledge with others affected by their disease. The focus groups provide an opportunity to discuss a wide range of topics that affect many, if not all rare disease patients.
The communities are created in partnership with more than 600 rare disease patient organisations. They provide resources such as moderators, specialist contacts and reliable information.
People with rare diseases can communicate with each other on a global scale, providing translation services in different languages such as English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
Finally, the communication system is secure. All communications between users and the RareConnect servers are encrypted using Secure Socket Layers (SSL).
