We are really proud to announce that we are working with the Government of Andorra and BTC Assessors to create a digitalization system for academic degrees. So it is a pleasure to share this case study.
This week has been in the press some news of a project in which Apiumtech / Just Digital we are working… we could say it’s very trendy because we’re using blockchain so if you want to know more, you can follow the links:
From our developers perspective It is all about a team effort where we have had to coordinate different players. Each one, providing specific knowledge within their area.
In many cases very specific areas… so from our point of view,
the challenge was to work together and deliver functionality rather than the concrete coding
or technical solution.
Le’ts see what players are involved:
- BTC Assessors (have the hard skills in blockchain, they are basically the makers)
- Andorra Telecom (Managing the project and sponsor)
- Feda (sponsor)
- Actua ( Is an innovation hub, so they put things together)
- University ( They have to explain what they need and how to get integrated, for instance, they design the badges)
- Goverment ( They sign degrees provided by University )
- Student ( The degree owner, must have the ability of see and share the digital degree)
- Apiumtech ( We help with agile and we code the IT part of the project, witch means software architecture, systems, etc We work with BTC Assessors in the same team, on the same backlog)
Within the Blockchain Andorra community of the country, which is very extensive and participatory, this news has been very well received, and not only is it good news for the country, but also, it is the first blockchain project developed at the level of country involving public administration and private companies.
Beyond the specific project, what is truly interesting, or what we find revealing is the use case at the methodology level.
If you want to success with a blockchain project, better you do agile
Besides the sprint planning with all the players, when we are within the sprint, we only focus on user stories and technical tasks. That’s why the sprint is done at the BTC Assessors office and we work there
Because in that sprint we are going to have user stories more related to blockchain, (like create a merkel tree)… BTC Assessors team tend to develop those blockchain features. And when User Story is an IT issue (like user login) we code that. One important thing is that because we’re coding together, we share the knowledge so everyone is learning and willing to integrate both worlds (Blockchain and Software Architecture)
When you develop a blockchain project, better you be creative
One of the first problems that were found in the project was first of all the blockchain network. In Andorra there was no blockchain network to publish the academic degrees or any other event.
After much thinking, the BTC Assessors team came to the conclusion that it was necessary to promote a blockchain network for Andorra so that different actors could have some control over the nodes deployed in the country. This is where BlockValley was born. BlockValley is an initiative to deploy a working blockchain network to be used by the companies in Andorra.
The team has also opensourced the nodes so every company can connect a node to the blockvalley network.
The project is opened for all the companies that aims to build Blockchain Apps in Andorra. At present there are 4 companies in BlockValley, but this number will grow as longs as others joins us.
Do you want to know more ? Contact BTCAssessors, they will love to explain how that project is been coded
