“Tech in Asia” will be from February to March 2016 in 8 Asian countries; Hong Kong, Taipei, Tokyo, Bangkok, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh, which is one of the landing city during the tour.
The event tour is about to showcase newly launched and product-ready tech startups born in the region and will have opportunity to get feedback from more than 4,000 international tech-savvy early adopters. Amazing opportunity!
Apiumtech’s team got the chance to participate to this event where we met and talked to Richard Bale (General Consulate of Canada) and Hub Langstaff (Director SECO Entrepreneurial Program). Hub mentioned that nowadays, Vietnam was a good choice for international investors.
Back to the event, I was quite impressed by 2 interesting and creative products that were presented:
AntBuddy is a free communication tool for the corporate world that has the objective of increasing productivity and happiness at work.
Surveys from AntBuddy revealed that 97% of small businesses in Asia are expected to spend 2 billion USD on communication. Other than that, it is a very important key for businesses when it comes to gaining success. Quite often, misunderstandings between customers and providers or between employees and managers can cause big failures.
BeeIO is a Smart Farm system that has the purpose to provide safe local food to consumers using new technologies services in Vietnam by farmers, all that using a mobile device when it comes to management. Let’s just say that it could be a great product in the near future for Vietnam’s economy. The agriculture in Vietnam is quite important, the country is famous for rice, coffee, rubber, tea, pepper, soybeans, cashews, sugar cane, peanuts, bananas, etc…
However, the quality of life of the farmers in urban areas is getting lower; they have to abandon the fields and go to the city to do other things, even jobs without skills, to be able to earn a higher income than the farm work. The farming industry in Vietnam is still mostly manual and based on ancient traditional techniques. Farmers still did not get the chance to use modern technologies used in developed countries. Therefore there is a huge opportunity to integrate a modern agricultural system as for example a smart farm application (that would be used with a smartphone, enabling to manage the farm), easy to use and increasing productivity and efficiency.
The big question here is how to change the typical farmer’s attitude and behaviour? In my opinion, with the effective approach and communication, a clear business plan and a strong management team, BeeIO could be a great product in Vietnam.
The “Tech in Asia” tour is a very useful playground where tech startups in Asian countries can introduce their potential products to international investors. We’re very happy we got the chance to participate to the event and get introduced to extremely interesting startups.
