This month I have written an article about promising startups in Barcelona to watch in 2017 and it was a success, I received a lot of messages, comments, likes and shares and therefore I decided to come up with the list of interesting and innovative tech startups on a global scale. As a fast-growing tech startup they really see the importance of good technology to shape the future of video communication.
Zalando – one of the best e-commerce tech startups. German e-commerce maintains a cross-platform online store that sells shoes, clothing and other fashion items and really shows how to grow from a startup to a leading fashion e-tailer with 796 million euros in Q1 2016 alone. In order to connect people and fashion both online and offline, their team creates ideas and develops innovative solutions that bring all the different players in the fashion business together and continually improve customer’s shopping experience. They now have more than 19 million customers in 16 markets and this number grows every month.

This startup plans to connect every consumer product to the Web. This tech startup manages real-time data to drive applications.
Pavegen is one of the best cleantech startups. Pavegen converts the kinetic energy generated from footsteps into renewable electricity. The highly-engaging, people-powered innovation has the ability to transform smart cities of the future, entirely through footfall.
11. CHIC BY CHOICE
Chic by Choice is one of the best fashion tech startups. It is a fashion rental site that allows women to access the most breathtaking designer dresses, straight from the catwalks. Perfect way to rent a dress from designer brands with 85% off retail price. They believe in a globally accessible style experience: to more than 15 European markets, including the major fashion centers of the UK, France, Italy and Germany, and offering a selection of more than 40 designers, for example brands like Valentino, Elie Saab, Dolce & Gabbana, are very popular there. Chic by Choice is really reinventing the luxury rental space. Instead of trying to guess what the customers want, Chic by Choice is reversing the stock model by using partnerships as a platform to analyse which dresses are searched for the most in order to meet the customers’ expectations regarding styles, designers and sizes.
MeshPoint is one of the best humanitarian tech startups. MeshPoint’s open source and durable Wi-Fi hotspot allows refugees to communicate and access information, which is a critical need for families and children as they travel across Europe. It is a compact and rugged autonomous device, designed to sustain extreme conditions and rapidly provide reliable internet access for up to 150 users.
Deliveroo is fast rising tech startup. This UK-based high-growth company shows there’s a strong appetite for on-demand premium restaurant delivery. Deliveroo allows clients to order high-quality takeaway online from top restaurants of the city. They provide customers with fast delivery straight to the home or office. Their technology platform optimizes food ordering and delivery by integrating web and mobile consumers with restaurant tablet-based point-of-sale order management terminals and their logistics optimisation algorithm via their delivery driver smartphone software.
HeadBox is the network for booking creative and inspiring spaces in London and beyond. It is an online marketplace for cool and offsite spaces, enabling guests to instantly search, book and pay all in one place. The service offers spaces for a range of needs including co-creation workshops, brainstorms, meet-ups, product and business launches, company meetings and get-togethers, as well as research, training and photography shoots. 15. ENIGMA RECOVERY
Enigma recovery is the Birmingham-based software business helping the world’s smartphone users recover their lost personal data. It works on a B2C model, selling software that helps people recover anything from photos, videos, text messages, calendar appointments, call history, contacts and even WhatsApp messages.
Snaptrip is online destination for last-minute holiday rentals in the UK. The online marketplace enables users to book spontaneous, last-minute getaways to more than 40,000 self-catering properties in the UK for up to 50% off the original price. Results can be filtered by destination, amenities and whether they allow pets or not, so holidaymakers can find something that exactly suits their needs. The company takes a commission on the value of every sale, which is structured so that the closer the booking is to departure the greater the commission.
Artfinder is the online marketplace connecting artists with art lovers around the world. It acts as a gallery of all the famous art in the world, enabling people to buy posters of the work they liked. This company was inspired to be launched because owners saw around “eight million starving artists in the world” and many more people who don’t think they could afford art. So the aim of artfinder is to connect these “starving artists” with art lovers all over the world. Charging a 30% commission on every sale, today the platform has more than 500,000 users globally; selling everything from paintings and printmaking to sculpture and digital art.
18. APPEAR HERE
Appear Here is an award winning platform for booking short-term retail space. This online marketplace allows users to easily book short-term retail space at key locations across London, Paris and New York, taking a 15% transaction fee for every booking. Their mission is to create a world where anyone, anywhere can find space for their ideas. Over 60,000 industry leading brands, designers and creative entrepreneurs are using Appear Here to find and book retail space. Everyone from Spotify to Apple and Net-a-porter have used Appear Here to launch pop-up stores. Appear Here is building a global network of the best retail spaces and working exclusively with some of the biggest landlords in the world including Land Securities, Hammerson and Westfield. Spaces listed on Appear Here include prime high street shops, underground stations, unique venues, major shopping malls and historic buildings. Grabble is one of the fastest growing fashion tech startups, often described as “Tinder for fashion”. Its system integrates easily with existing online stores, including ASOS, Topshop and Zara.
