Participating to events is quite important for various reasons, which is why at Apiumtech we try to participate as much as we can to all sorts of conferences, workshops & meetups related to our industry and services we offer. First i’ll start off by mentioning the two main reasons why we should all attend conferences and then i’ll mention great upcoming UX conferences in 2016.
REASONS TO ATTEND UX CONFERENCES
- Be part of your community – You obviously get to follow/know interesting people via social medias and online channels, and don’t get me wrong it’s very important. But let’s just say that most of the time true connections are created when you have face to face interactions, and what better place to meet and interact with influencers than conferences?
- Freshen up your mind – I think that it’s quite easy to say that listening to others’ point of view helps seeing things differently, we all have our ways but there’s always room for inspiration and new concepts. By the way, conferences are the perfect place to get up to date on new trends & technologies.
TOP 5 UX CONFERENCES – EUROPE
So there are hundreds of UX events in Europe and it’s difficult to say that my suggestions are the best, but I based my choices on the number of attendees, networking opportunities and feedback of past events. I’m not going to lie, location was also considered.
INTERACTION WEEK
The Interaction week 2016 will be held in Helsinki, Finland at the Finlandia Hall from the 1st to the 4th of March. The event is organized by IxDA and will reunite almost 1000 people from the design industry. The event offers keynotes, workshops and more than 100 speakers participating from companies like Airbnb, Uber, Google and many other amazing organizations.
SMASHING CONFERENCE
Quite known, the Smashing Conference will be held in Oxford, England in the Town Hall on the 15th & 16th of March. It will be centered on smart front-end/UX ideas, solutions and techniques. There will be 16 experts from the industry and 350 attendees.
DESIGN IT; BUILD IT – DIBI CONFERENCE
The DIBI conference will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland at The Hub in the Old Town on the 17th & 18th of March. The Conference with a total of 16 presentations is know for UX designers & web developers and features speakers representing big players as Skyscanner, Tinder & Facebook.
UX LONDON
This UX conference is held at Trinity Laban in London, England from the 18th to the 20th of May. Each day of the conference will be focused on a different topic; Design strategy, product design and design practice. There will be speakers from companies like Facebook and Pivotal Labs, offering workshops and presentations.
UX LX LISBON
The UX Conference in Lisbon will be help from the 24th to the 27th of May. During 4 days, the event will offer trainings, workshops and talks from speakers that work in companies like ProdUX Labs and Google.
